Gunfire Exchanged During DoorDash Robbery In Eastern Montco
CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —A Philadelphia man has been charged robbing a DoorDash driver early Tuesday morning in which gunfire was exchanged, police said.Divine Allen Hargrove, 18, of Philadelphia, was arraigned Thursday on robbery and firearms charges and bail was set at $100,000 cash. He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after being unable to post bail.The Cheltenham Township Police Department responded around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday to the 1900 block of Humphrey Merry Way in the Lynnewood Gardens Apartments for a report of a robbery with shots fired. Police determined that a DoorDash delivery driver had been the victim of a robbery. The victim stated that he was making a delivery when he was approached by the suspect who was brandishing a firearm and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The victim threw his keys onto the ground at which point the victim heard a single gunshot. The victim, who is properly licensed to carry a firearm, drew his own handgun and fired a series of gunshots at the suspect, who then fled on foot. A Cheltenham Police K9 team quickly located the suspect a short distance away, and he was taken into custody. Neither the victim or the suspect were struck by gunfire. Evidence including a ski mask and the handgun used by the suspect during the robbery was recovered. The suspect's handgun was loaded with an extended magazine containing 26 live rounds of ammunition. An investigation determined that the resident of the address where the DoorDash order was being delivered had not placed the order.The case remains under investigation by Cheltenham Detectives.
