RPM Rundown: Intel on 7 Auburn predictions, 1 potential pick
Auburn recruiting never sleeps. The 2025 class is full-go and the transfer portal is hot and heavy. Can the Tigers keep the ball rolling on the recruiting trail, though? They have to. I have seven open RPM predictions logged for big Auburn targets. We will update each on how I am feeling about those picks as of today.
These previous predictions for class of 2025 recruits have made their decisions: (6-1 with 2025 recruits)
CORRECT (RPM made – 7/31/23) LB – Jakaleb Faulk, 60 percent confidence to Auburn (Committed: Aug. 21)
CORRECT: (RPM made – 11/12/23) TE – Ryan Ghea, 60 percent confidence to Auburn (Committed: 11/12/23)
CORRECT: (RPM made – 11/30/23) OT – Tavaris Dice, 60 percent confidence to Auburn (Committed: 3/14/24)
CORRECT: (RPM made – 3/21/24) OL – Tai Buster, 60 percent confidence to Auburn (Committed: 3/22/24)
CORRECT: (RPM made – 3/5/24) OL – Carde Smith, 60 percent confidence to Auburn (Committed: 410/24
INCORRECT: (RPM made – 6/12/23) RB – Alvin Henderson, 60 percent confidence to Auburn (Committed to Penn State: 4/11/24)
CORRECT: (RPM made – 4/7/24) CB – Dante Core, 60 percent confidence to Auburn (Committed: 5/18/24)
Potential pick
— Auburn seemingly knocked it out of the park with five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola from Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley Northwest. We wrote before the visit that Auburn was more in this than perceived.
AU LIVE 5/17/24 – Auburn probably stands higher than it gets credit for at this time. This official visit is one that could grab his attention according to our intel.
A pick has not been made, and may not be, but Auburn and Stanford are running in front of the pack according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong. Auburn absolutely upped its chances with the visit.
**NEW PICK: Edge – Herbert ‘Third’ Scroggins, Savannah (Ga.) St. Benedictine Military
UPDATE: Based on talking to Scroggins, what we have heard about his interest in Auburn, and how high the Tigers are on him, it was time to make the pick. Since making the pick, all intel has continued to point toward Scroggins choosing Auburn in the near future. He and his teammate Jacobe Ward probably have Auburn at the top right now, but Auburn has not treated them as a package deal. That has paid off to this point. We like Auburn for Scroggins.
LB – Eric Winters, Enterprise (Ala.)
PICK: Auburn – 60% confidence, 10/20/23
FEELING: great -> GOOD
WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: Winters may not be close to a decision for now, but Auburn is prioritizing him at linebacker. So far, Auburn linebackers coach Josh Aldridge has hit on the targets he has prioritized. Winters is in-state, he has visited Auburn multiple times, and there will be a monster need at his position. He will be courted by many big schools, but Auburn seems like the best choice at this time. We will continue to monitor this one closely as many big schools such as Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina are involved among others.
NEW UPDATE: This one has gone back and forth between Auburn and Georgia for the last few months. Nothing has changed going into the homestretch of this recruitment. At last check, Georgia probably has a slight edge, but Auburn is close enough to call it 50/50. The confidence level in the pick has fallen for me this week, but will still hold the pick on Auburn until there is an indefinite reason to change it.
OT – Broderick Shull, Bixby (Ok.)
PICK: Auburn – 60% confidence, 5/3/24
FEELING: GREAT
WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: I logged a new pick for Auburn to land Broderick “Brody” Shull with 60 percent confidence. I joined On3 National Recruiting Experts Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons with the pick. I believe Auburn is in great position to land Shull’s commitment in the near future, probably after his official visit to Auburn this summer.
NEW UPDATE: Shull named Auburn and Nebraska co-leaders after his official visit with the Huskers. Next up is Auburn, where Shull will be returning for the second time. After his first visit, Auburn made a huge move. We think the upcoming official visit could place Auburn alone at the top. The Nebraska buzz is real, but Auburn is getting ready to attempt to close the door on that.
Saf. – Anquon Fegans, Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson
PICK: Auburn – 60% confidence, 4/8/24
FEELING: GREAT
WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee already had a prediction in, so I joined him. I like where Auburn sits with Fegans and have for a while. Then, I talked to three different sources who all echoed some confidence that Auburn was number one here. In fact, they couldn’t all decide on a clear number two in this race. I like Auburn to win out here as of right now.
NEW UPDATE: Over a week ago, I changed the confidence level in this pick from good to great. Based on everything we have heard this week, I am staying at great. Auburn has since picked up a preferred walk-on commitment from Antwon Fegans Jr., Anquon’s older brother. Georgia and LSU remain in the mix, but our pick is firmly on Auburn for now.
2026 LB – JaMichael Garrett, Gulf Shores (Ala.)
PICK: Auburn – 60% confidence, 3/17/24
FEELING: GOOD
WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: Garrett visited Auburn in the first week of February and again in March. He always talks highly of Auburn and seems to have a great connection with several coaches there. He is a high priority for the Tigers at linebacker in 2026. Right now, it feels like Auburn is the team to beat, even as he has taken other visits to Alabama and LSU among others.
NEW UPDATE: Garrett has now set a commitment date of June 19. As of right now, I still like where Auburn sits, but not enough to change the confidence here. Garrett has not been back to Auburn in a couple of months, so that is interesting. Our intel continues to suggest Auburn is the team to beat here. Also, Garrett will more than likely be back for Big Cat Weekend in July, after his commitment decision.
2026 Edge – Hezekiah Harris, Huntsville (Ala.) Jemison
PICK: Auburn – 60% confidence, 4/9/24
FEELING: EXCELLENT
WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: This is a gut feeling pick. I have been seeing Harris visit Auburn since he was in the eighth grade. While Harris is a one-word answer kind of guy in interviews, he did say Auburn was his leader “probably.” We think so, too. Clemson is the biggest threat to Auburn right now, but we expect Harris to pick Auburn when he decides, which should be very soon. Maybe before April is over.
5/10/24 UPDATE: We have bumped the confidence in this pick up a level. A recent in-school visit from Josh Aldridge probably shored up what felt like big momentum from Auburn. A decision is more than likely coming from Harris during the summer. As of right now, we feel confident that Auburn is holding a strong lead.
IOL – Jacobe Ward, Savannah (Ga.) St. Benedictine Military
PICK: Auburn – 60% confidence, 3/31/24
FEELING: EXCELLENT
WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: Ward visited Auburn last weekend and left calling the Tigers No. 1 with others in chase mode. He said it will be tough to knock Auburn off the top spot and a decision will come soon. He did not give a deliberate timeline, but according to our intel, that decision could happen in the month of April or in early May.
5/10/24 UPDATE – I have changed the confidence from great to excellent this week. Unlike for Fegans, it seems Tennessee is in the No. 2 spot, but we believe that Auburn remains firmly in his No. 1 spot as he said when leaving his March visit at Auburn. According to our intel, the Tigers still feel very good about landing Ward in the near future.
