ENFIELD, CT — In the closing hours of the 2024 legislative session Wednesday night, State Representative Carol Hall cast her vote in support of a land conveyance in the town of Enfield. The bill, SB-460, An Act Concerning the Conveyance of a Parcel of Land in the Town of Enfield, would transfer 15.4 acres on Shaker Road to the town so it could be used for additional sports and recreational opportunities. It was unanimously approved by a 19-0 vote by the Government Administration and Elections Committee.Cost of the land will be equal to the fair market value of the property, as determined by the average of the appraisals of two independent appraisers selected by the Commissioner of Correction, plus the administrative costs of making such conveyance, according to the bill.Beginning at a point near the southwesterly access road to the Carl Robinson Correctional Institution, the land is located directly across the street from the Shaker Recreational Complex."I am excited to announce the House and Senate have both voted in favor of conveying the parcel of property across the street from our soccer fields, which will allow the town to expand their commitment to sports and recreational activities," Hall said in a written statement. The article Enfield To Acquire Acreage On Prison Property To Boost Recreation appeared first on Enfield, CT Patch.
