I took my daughters to Disney On Ice and was refused entry over my outfit – don’t make the same mistake I did

A MUM has told how she was refused entry to Disney on Ice – all because of her outfit.
And her supposed ‘inappropriate’ attire? A simple Disney costume.

Jennifer O’Rourke, 29, had taken her two daughters to the live action show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on Sunday.
Her excited youngsters had dressed up as Elsa and Olaf from Frozen while Jennifer completed the group costume as Anna.
But the mum of two, from Renfrewshire, was refused entry to the venue due to her outfit and ginger wig.
Disney On Ice rules on their website state that costumes worn by guests aged 14 or over are not permitted to “reduce confusion for young children”.
And Jennifer, who had been unaware of the policy, was only allowed inside after promising to remove her wig and borrow her partner’s jacket to wear over her costume.
She told us: “I was so excited to be able to dress up with my girls for this event and I didn’t even think this would have been an issue.
“When we got to security we were asked to wait, then were told by staff that the production team would have to come out and talk to me as over 14s are not allowed to dress up.
“At that point I removed my wig and put on my partner’s jacket before speaking with them.”
She added: “They were really nice and understanding and said why I wasn’t able to wear my costume as I could confuse the kids as a real-life Anna.
“They said if I keep the jacket on and [I could] take it off when the lights go down. I agreed.
“I was so glad my partner never dressed up as Kristoff or we would have had to go home and change.
“I totally see the organisers’ point and respect Disney’s policy.”
According to Feld Entertainment, the company that produces the live touring show, the policy has been in place since 2016.
Addressing “inappropriate attire” in their terms and conditions, they say: “Feld Entertainment and its affiliates reserve the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that is considered inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other guests.”
Attire that is not appropriate and which may result in refusal of admittance includes costumes and costume masks, which may not be worn by guests 14 years of age or older.

Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics, and excessively torn clothing is banned too – as well as “obscene or profanity” tattoos, and clothing that drags on the ground.
In line with the show’s child-friendly vibe, any clothing which “exposes excessive portions of the skin” that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment will also see guests refused entry.
The Disney On Ice Tour continues across the UK this month with shows in Liverpool, Cardiff and Leeds.
And Jennifer hopes that sharing her experience will help other parents avoid her mistake.
The mum also raised awareness about the rule after posting a TikTok video about her outfit blunder that has since gone viral with 270,000 views.
In the clip, she said: “When you turn up to Disney On Ice in costume because you’re that parent and they tell you you can’t dress up.
“Apparently you’re not allowed to dress up. So I’ve got my big coat on and I had to take the wig off.
“Other than that, the show was amazing.”
Social media users have since taken to the comments to share their disbelief about the rule.
“Omg I didn’t know this”, one person exclaimed.
Somebody else echoed: “That’s wild, first I’m hearing about this too haha.”
A third wrote: “I mean it makes sense that they don’t want the kids to think you’re actually Anna lol but I’d have done this too thinking I was being fun mum.”
“Omg I would have been mortified”, cried a fourth.
Meanwhile, a fifth person said: “Awww we seen you in the queue!!
“What a shame you had to take your costume off. I thought you looked fab.”
