Ja Morant still awaiting full clearance from his right shoulder surgery in January

Ja Morant interacted with the kids in basketball activities, but he is still awaiting full clearance from his right shoulder surgery in January. Morant suffered a labral tear after playing just nine games. He’s expected to be cleared in the next two weeks. “I hate being around basketball and not being able to play,” Morant said. “I don’t got too much longer. I can wait to make sure I’m able to play and be cleared when the season comes.”Source: Memphis Commercial Appeal

“It’s just one of those moments where you kind of look at yourself and be proud.”

More on this storyline
Drew Hill: Ja Morant said he has taken photos and signed autographs for kids, but nothing has given him joy like his AAU team. He gets to interact with the kids daily, and gets to watch them do all of the things he would do as a kid. Try to stay up late, etc. -via Twitter @DrewHill_DM / June 22, 2024
And what advice do you have for him as far as keeping basketball a focus? Tony Allen: I want him to take his time with his injury. Give himself the proper healing time, get his strength and conditioning up to be ready for the next season. Getting back to being himself, having fun on the court. He knows he’s electrifying. Just be Ja, the Ja that we’ve known up until this point on the court. Everything else will take care of itself. I’m a huge fan of Ja Morant. I look at him like a little brother. Real cool with his dad, his mom is a very sweet lady. It was a minor setback, it’s behind him. Basketball is the first priority and I’m sure he’ll cherish that moving forward. -via New York Times / May 25, 2024
“Everything is going well,” Jenkins said. “Ja is the only one when June rolls around, he’s going to be pretty close to full go on the court. Everything that everyone was dealing with towards the end of the season is in a good place right now.” -via Memphis Commercial Appeal / May 21, 2024
