At just £18.49 for a 70cl bottle, Glen Marnoch Highland Single Scotch Whisky beat the likes of M&S within the Single Malts category, as well as premium brand Lochlea Distillery, which costs £45.
And the bottle is £29.51 cheaper than Talisker Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which is priced at £48 – but is currently discounted at £28 on The Bar.
Both whiskies are produced in Scotland and they have similar alcohol percentages – Aldi’s own brand has 40% and the Talisker whisky has 45.8% alcohol.
The other Aldi own-brand whiskies that won the prizes in the ISC also have competitive prices as Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky costs £16.89 for a 1l bottle, while Samuel Joe Straight Kentucky Bourbon is priced at £14.99 for a 70cl bottle.
The nation’s cheapest supermarket also took home three silvers for its Highland Black Blended Scotch Whisky (£15.99, 70cl), Glen Marnoch Speyside Single Malt Whisky (£18.49, 70cl) and Glen Marnoch Islay Single Malt Whisky (£18.49, 70cl) at ISC.

The retailer’s whisky range has already been awarded 15 medals at international competitions in the last 12 months.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “To have won three gold and three silver medals at such a prestigious competition is quite an accolade.
“This industry recognition helps to prove that great quality doesn’t have to come with a luxury price tag and customers can be confident they’re saving money with us, whilst getting the best whisky taste and experience.”
Earlier this year, Aldi’s own-brand Haysmith’s Seville orange and Persian lime gin was named the “best in the UK” as it won gold at the The World Gin Awards – the highest accolade at the ceremony.
The gin won the Best in Country award, as well as being crowned the Best in Britain within the flavoured Gin category.
The 70cl gin contains 40% alcohol and beats competitors including Tanqueray and Sipsmith on price.
How to save money buying alcohol
Alcohol can be pricey if you’re planning a party or hosting an event but there are ways to cut costs.
It’s always important to drink responsibly, here, Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements share some tips on getting booze for the best price.
Stocking up can mean big savings on drinks, especially if you want to buy wine or fizz.
The big supermarkets regularly offer discounts of 25% when you buy six or more bottles of wine. The promotions typically run in the lead up to occasions such as Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter.
If you know you are going to need booze later in the year, it can be worth acting when you see offers.
Before buying your preferred drink make sure you shop around to find the best price – you can use a comparison site such as pricerunner.com or trolley.co.uk.
Don’t forget that loyalty cards can unlock better savings so make sure you factor that in too.
If you like your plonk, wine clubs can also be a good way to save money and try new varieties. You’ll usually have to pay a membership fee in return for cheaper price so work out if you will be buying enough to make the one off cost worthwhile.
