Coronation Street spoilers: Devastating news as much-loved character is diagnosed with pneumonia before death
Another upsetting twist (Picture: ITV)
Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) returned to hospital in Friday’s (May 3) episode of Coronation Street and received another devastating diagnosis.
On Wednesday, Paul and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) came face to face with their father Denny, a man they haven’t seen in years.
Denny claimed he was in Weatherfield because he wanted to spend time with Paul, who has MND, before he dies.
With that, the father and son made their way to the pub for an afternoon of catching up.
It then became apparent Denny really wasn’t taking into consideration that Paul shouldn’t be consuming so much alcohol in his condition. He plied him with booze, which then resulted in Paul knocking a glass onto the floor.

As Paul started to throw up, Bernie and Billy rushed to help and sent Denny away.
In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, Paul decided to spend more time with Denny in the flat watching a film.
As Denny headed out to get ice cream, he got distracted when he found Gemma and asked to meet his grandchildren, failing to think about the fact Paul was all alone.

The beloved character then suffered a coughing fit, which resulted in him becoming semi-conscious.
When Denny eventually returned, it wasn’t long until Paul and Billy left the cobbles in an ambulance.
At the hospital, Paul’s family arrived – including a reluctant Denny – and discovered from Billy he has aspiration pneumonia, which develops when things like vomit, food or liquid gets stuck in the airways or lungs instead of being swallowed or spat out.
