Summer House’s West Wilson Breaks Down Why He Doesn’t Stand With Toxic Masculinity

Most people assume that younger generations will grow up to be more progressive in their political views than their parents. We assume younger men will have more awareness of things like racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry.
However, the facts don’t support that assumption. In 2025, more young men are leaning conservative. According to Uncloseted Media, 58% of Gen Z men voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Sadly, many young men feel overlooked and left behind. Many of them blame the promotion of women as equals as part of the problem. That in itself is disturbing.
A growing toxic masculinity supports relegating females back to their historic position as “lesser” humans, responsible only for cooking, cleaning and producing children. Wondering what’s causing these archaic attitudes, Uncloseted Media talked to sports journalist and Summer House star West Wilson. They wanted his opinion on this new “bro culture” and why it’s gone so far to the right.
Summer House’s West Wilson is comfortable with people from all different walks of life
Apparently gay actor/comedian and Bravo fan Joel Kim Booster said of West, “I haven’t liked a straight, white guy this much since freaking Bernie Sanders.”
Interviewer Spencer Macnaughton asked West, “Why are you exuding allyship?”
“From a young age, I think I’ve been able to move through life relatively confident and sure of who I was,” West responded. “I think that’s allowed me to be comfortable with making new friends and being around people who are different than me … Being secure in who you are allows you to trust others more.”
“I certainly am 100% a bro,” the kinda handsome, guy-next-door continued. “But the [bro] culture itself, I don’t necessarily know if that’s a good thing.”
West added that his mom is an OBGYN. She’s always been very pro women’s health, women’s rights and clearly pro choice as long as he can remember. “That’s never really been a question,” he concluded.
“The GOP spent $215 million on anti-trans ads … five times more [than they] spent on ads focused on the economy,” Spencer went on. “The biggest voting bloc that swung aggressively towards Trump was young men, right? So why did that … anti-trans messaging resonate with folks of your demographic growth?” Even Sister Wives star Kody Brown donated $6500 to Republican candidates, despite his money issues and his trans son, Leon.
“I find it baffling, to be honest,” West said. “I’ve lived in Hell’s Kitchen for five years. There are drag bars all over Hell’s Kitchen that I walk by every single day. I have not been subjected to more drag queen propaganda or trans propaganda over the last year or two than I was by people from the Republican Party. They want people to be afraid of things that they aren’t necessarily comfortable with.”

“Obviously there’s a whole world of the Manosphere out there and manfluencers, right?” Spencer continued. “We think about Nick Fuentes who posted, “Your Body, My Choice,” right? … Andrew Tate is another one [who] said, ‘I think my sister is her husband’s property’ … So what is going on in, again, your demographic group … where you have that massive part of the population who thinks, ‘F yeah, let’s be sexist, let’s be misogynistic, let’s say that women’s rights and abortion rights are our decision as men?'”
“I think that there are boys and men who have sad, lonely lives or have been upset with some girl [who] didn’t wanna date [them],” West replied. “They find, I guess, an outlet in these extremists and feel heard, which is so sad to say. Why else would they listen to anyone else challenging them when there are a hundred people on their cell phones or on their computers telling them that the way they view the world is correct? It’s just like a runaway train.”
There is so much more to this interview that’s worth reading. I strongly encourage you to click the link above and read it for yourself. My opinion of West has totally turned around. He may have f*ed up his relationship with Ciara Miller, but in his heart, I believe West is a good and decent person.
Summer House airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
TELL US – WHAT DO YOU THINK OF WEST’S WORDS IN THIS INTERVIEW? ARE YOU SHOCKED HE HAD SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THE WORLD OF POLITICS?
