Helping others still matters in this world. Volunteering to assist people when they need it most, fixing serious problems, and delivering measurable results for Holmdel families drives my work. Unapologetically defending children, especially girls and girls sports at this moment, and their parents from experimental Trenton ideologues is paramount. Providing strong, thoughtful, common-sense leadership during critical moments is essential. There are many other great examples of community volunteerism, including coaches, tutors, those who serve their religious faith, Police Explorers, Fire Department, EMS, and nonprofit school organization volunteers. Volunteering matters. For me, it’s the quiet satisfaction of getting good things done for my hometown and helping the schools I attended and graduated from as a child and where my wife and I chose to raise our family today. What sets you apart from the other candidates?Deep experience in public and private sector management and elected office. As an MPA, RMC, QPA, and AHP, I have served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Administrative Officer in four municipalities, which share many similarities with school districts. Elected for nine years as a Holmdel Township Committeeman, I bring a lens that takes a very wide view. My varied background in securities, real estate, insurance, EMS, and public sector management brings very unique qualifications that positively impact every department in our school district. My work in elected office in Holmdel has saved taxpayers millions of dollars and fostered operational excellence. Simply put, I take on the big issues when it matters and solve them. Regularly. This includes communications and partnerships with each governmental jurisdiction including municipal, county, state and federal. My experience is brought to bear when it matters for Holmdel Schools and Holmdel Township.Serious results. Over the past seven years, across hundreds of Holmdel Board of Education meetings, I have spearheaded and completed impactful initiatives. These include implementing full-day kindergarten at no additional cost to families, two tax levy cuts, moving subcommittee meetings to public and live-streamed formats, proposing, securing and installing new turf fields and lights at Satz School, opening schools quickly for in-person learning during the pandemic, aligning school start times to improve student health and academics — resulting in a massive 38% reduction in tardies which is the new benchmark for other districts to emulate — fostering cutting-edge curriculum in AI and STEAM, reintroducing Christmas and Hanukkah into holiday programming, adding Diwali and Eid to the calendar, and advancing dual-degree partnerships and so much more. As the 2024 President of the Board of Education, I have developed and encouraged the most collaborative, stable, inclusive, bipartisan, and efficient approach in years. Our board work touches every aspect of K-12 education, from facilities management to financial expertise and curriculum development. I focus on areas that do not garner enough attention such as suicide awareness and mental health supports, cardiac screening initiatives and more. As the President, I craft the agendas with care along with the Administrative team. The team, I should add, developed after I strongly endorsed the hiring of our current Superintendent Scott Cascone who is doing an excellent job. Since his hire, he has curated a team of seasoned professionals that are dedicated in service to the community. This talent and development is driven by a results-oriented board. You see it every day in the perfectly smooth and collaborative operations under my lead on your behalf as Holmdel Board of Education President. It's what voters expect, demand and deserve.Policy — Very Different. The Wall, Corrigan, and Giampolo team stands for conservative values and educational excellence. We strongly support Title IX as intended and defend girls and their sports against radical anti-female policies. I voted to rescind Policy 5756, which removes parents from critical health and gender discussions regarding their children. I voted against extreme sexual education curricula. In the key moments when it truly matters, I stood with Holmdel families, not Trenton ideologues. This is a major difference between Wall Corrigan Giampolo and our four opponents in my view. I'm committed to ensuring that children are protected and professionally educated from when they leave their front door until their arrival home. What do you see as the biggest issue facing Holmdel, and how will you resolve it?Ensuring continuity of family-focused leadership on the Holmdel Board of Education is the most significant issue. The chronic weaponization of radical and anti-woman politics from Trenton must be regularly addressed. Financially, the PILOT revenue discussions I initiated must accelerate and conclude in positive partnerships with the Township Committee to stabilize taxes for both the town and schools for 2025 and beyond. On infrastructure, we need to finalize the Crawford's Corner Traffic Improvement Plan, which I started. I'm encouraged and impressed with the leadership and collaboration of Holmdel Mayor Rocco Impreveduto on this important initiative. The relationship between the town and the schools has never been better. On curriculum, we must plan for future classrooms and manage Artificial Intelligence and hologram technology. I initiated and passed the first AI policy in New Jersey. During my tenure, we have revamped the approach to bullying, scaled up major initiatives inside and outside the classroom and are building on initiatives like the anti-bullying STOPit and Hibster apps and staff training. Additionally, my Student Survey initiative allows students to evaluate us, helping identify areas for improvement. In terms of nutrition, we ensure that our vendors deliver high-quality food for students who rely on us daily. My background in negotiating contracts and personnel hiring helps protect taxpayer finances while ensuring we hire the best individuals to work with our children. My view is that we can succeed in every area for every child. What are past accomplishments or experiences that make you qualified for this position?I grew up in Holmdel and know and care for this community deeply. My wife and I are raising our four children here, all of whom attend or have attended Holmdel Schools. We are invested in the community—in the schools I attended, the church where I received Holy Communion, and the fields where I played soccer and football. I have served in volunteer and elected office, bringing extensive C-level executive experience from the public and private sectors. I have managed multi-million-dollar budgets and capital projects for many years, previously served as a volunteer EMT for nearly a decade, and have held leadership roles in non-profits. I’m a Trustee for the statewide environmental organization Sustainable Jersey and have been elected to three terms (nine years) on the Holmdel Township Committee. I’ve also served or Chaired nearly every committee for both the Township Committee and the Holmdel Board of Education.Accomplishments during my time on the Board of Education, elected three times by my fellow voters and now in my seventh year, include successfully implementing the $40 million referendum on time and under budget, introducing STEAM initiatives, establishing full-day kindergarten, live-streaming meetings, and creating a more transparent governance format. I’ve pushed for advanced curricula, restructured bullying investigations with Administration, brought police into schools for public safety, and opened schools quickly during the pandemic—leading to recognition from Stanford and Harvard for being the only district in New Jersey with no learning loss. I also led efforts to offer student internships through my ChamberCast video podcasts at Bell Works. Other past accomplishments include the preservation of over 1,000 acres of open space and farmland. In stories to long to share in this space, I led initiatives to preserve the Chase Tract with key votes, DePalma Farm, F&F Nurseries and Phillips Park now called Veterans Park. These success stories reduce the pressure of housing density on Holmdel Schools as well as reduce the secondary impacts on police, fire and first aid. Bottom line, I work. I get things done. As President in 2024, I embraced all voices on the board, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Holmdel Schools are run smoothly and professionally, as evidenced in every meeting I lead, which can be viewed on HolmdelSchools.org.I am proud of my body of work and remain honored to serve Holmdel families. If success matters, vote for Wall, Corrigan, and Giampolo, the Holmdel Educational Excellence team, we look forward to delivering even more value and being sure to always, and that means always, place parents and children first in every decision of the Holmdel Township Board of Education.Name one thing about Holmdel that always makes you smile. One word — Family. Thank you to my awesome wife Jeanne, our wonderful daughters Georgette, Charlotte and Maria and our amazing son Teddy. I love you all. I could not do this without your incredible, patient and loving support. The article Holmdel Board Of Education Election 2024: Terence Wall appeared first on Holmdel-Hazlet, NJ Patch.
