Free E-Waste, Shredding For RSM Residents Scheduled: What To Know

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Do you have forgotten e-waste taking up space in your garage, or sensitive documents that you've been needing to shred?Mark your calendars, Rancho Santa Margarita. On Saturday, Oct. 11, the city is hosting an e-waste and shredding event.At the event, residents can bring their e-waste or old documents and have them recycled or destroyed free of charge.Electronic waste, or e-waste, includes items such as old cell phones, computers, printers, microwaves and other small appliances.To participate in the event, no registration is required — though the city emphasizes that the drive operates on a first-come, first-serve basis.The city will not accept sharps, batteries, smoke detectors or fluorescent tubes.In regard to shredding services, the city will not accept three-ring binders or document clips.
