This teen terrorist was going to bomb a Pride event. He’s facing the music instead.
A 17-year-old was learning how to make bombs while planning his attack on a Pride event when he was arrested last August, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
The teen, Muhyee Ud-Din Abdul-Rahman has now been charged with possessing weapons of mass destruction, arson, causing or risking catastrophe, criminal conspiracy, attempt to commit criminal mischief, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

The FBI began surveilling Abdul-Rahman as a part of an anti-terror probe in March 2023, when they became aware of alleged communications between Abdul-Rahman and Katibat al-Tawhid wal-Jihad (KTJ), a designated terrorist organization based in Syria which has links to the Islamist militant organization Al-Qaeda.

KTJ was responsible for the 2017 metro attack in St. Petersburg, Russia that killed 16 and injured 64, as well as the suicide car bombing at the Chinese Embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan the previous year that killed the perpetrator and injured three others.
Authorities accused Abdul-Rahman of planning to travel to Syria to join the terrorist group. They further allege that the teenager shared terrorist propaganda with members of the group, his WhatsApp profile picture featured images of terror group banners, and he had obtained materials to make bombs, including chemicals, tactical equipment, wiring and devices that could be used as remote detonators—the ingredients for the explosives were reportedly found in his trash
Investigators revealed that the teenager used his mobile phone to research potential targets, including the local Pride parade, nuclear power plants, and the popular Army-Navy football game. Prosecutors allege that he also conducted “intense” searches specifically focused on the Philadelphia LGBTQ+ community.
Abdul-Rahman’s bail was set at $5 million, and is being tried as an adult. If convicted, he could face up to 48 years in prison.
