NEW YORK CITY — A prominent Blackstone executive has been identified as one of four victims killed in a fatal shooting at a Midtown Manhattan building on Monday. Wesley LePatner, was the global head of Core+ Real Estate and the chief executive officer of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust. She was a wife and a mother of two children, according to reports. According to the Wall Street Journal, LePatner was in the lobby when the gunman Shane Tamura, 27, opened fire inside 375 Park Ave. killing her and NYPD officer Didarul Islam. Two others were killed on the 33rd floor of the building. Blackstone released a statement on X confirming her death: "We are heartbroken to share that our colleague, Wesley LePatner, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at 345 Park Avenue," the statement said. "Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed." "She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond," it continued. "She embodied the best of Blackstone. "Our prayers are with her husband, children and family. We are also saddened by the loss of the other innocent victims as well, including brave security personnel and NYPD."LePatner joined Blackstone in 2014. The mother of two was also a member of the board of directors of the UJA-Federation of New York.The organization in a statement called LePatner "extraordinary.""An exceptional leader in the financial world, she brought thoughtfulness, vision, and compassion to everything she did. In 2023, we honored her with the Alan C. Greenberg Young Leadership Award at our Wall Street Dinner, recognizing her commitment to our community and her remarkable achievements, all the more notable as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field," the statement read. "She lived with courage and conviction, instilling in her two children a deep love for Judaism and the Jewish people," the statement continued. "May Wesley’s memory be for a blessing -- and a lasting source of strength and inspiration."Other Victims IdentifiedA third victim has been identified as SEIU security officer Aland Etienne, according to union 32BJ SEIU.“We are devastated to hear the reports of the shooting at 345 Park Avenue. We extend our deep condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones tonight, including that of our own 32BJ SEIU security member Aland Etienne, a dedicated security officer who took his job duties extremely seriously," a statement read. His brother in a post on social media said Etienne was more than a brother. "He was a father, a son, and a light in our lives," Gathmand Etienne wrote. "Our hearts are shattered, and we’re asking for your prayers and strength as we navigate this painful time. Rest in peace, Brother. You’ll never be forgotten."Julia Hyman, 27, has been identified as the fourth victim of the shooting, according to ABC News. She worked as an associate at Rudin Management. Their offices were located on the 33rd floor of the building. "Everyone at our company are devastated by yesterday's senseless tragedy," Rudin Management said in a statement.
