Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Odds: Spread, Moneyline, & Total
The headliner for the opening week of NCAA football will take place across the pond in Dublin, with the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets set to battle at Aviva Stadium at noon ET on Saturday.
Sportsbooks are offering promotions ahead of college football week 1 in which No. 10 Florida State is heavily favored, but Georgia Tech has drawn enough action to move the point spread. Below, we break down the college football betting lines and odds movement on this anticipated bout between ACC rivals.
Florida State favored over Georgia Tech to kick off college season
Florida State went 8-0 against ACC competition in the 2023-24 season but will look to turn the page to start 2024 after suffering the worst loss in program history (63-3) in a bowl game at the hands of Georgia.
The Yellow Jackets were a high-scoring outfit last year with Haynes King at quarterback. In Brent Key’s first full season as head coach, Tech secured its first winning record (7-6) since 2018. Georgia Tech last faced Florida State on Oct. 29, 2022, losing 41-16 in one of Key’s first games as interim head coach.

Breaking down the matchup
How Georgia Tech could cover the spread
The Yellow Jackets return plenty of talent around King, who threw for 2,842 yards with 37 total touchdowns last season after transferring from Texas A&M. Top receivers Malik Rutherford and Eric Singleton are back, along with 1,000-yard rusher Jamal Haynes. But the Yellow Jackets will not only have to match a high-powered Florida State offense, they’ll have to get stops.
New defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci comes over from Duke after leading that unit to success last season, and if Georgia Tech’s run defense looks much improved under his tutelage, they might be able to cover, or even pull off an unlikely upset. Georgia Tech went 7-2 against the spread as underdogs last season, covering by an average of 12 points per game.
How Florida State could win and cover the spread
Proven dual-threat quarterback DJ Uiagalelei transfers in to fill the shoes of 2023 ACC Player of the Year Jordan Travis, so the Seminoles’ offense shouldn’t miss a beat. Returning players will likely derive motivation from getting left out of the College Football Playoff and losing in embarrassing fashion in the Orange Bowl to end last season, and potentially look to take out their frustrations on Georgia Tech.
Florida State could dominate possession if Tech is unable to stop the run despite the influx of new personnel and coaching. Last season, the Yellow Jackets allowed 223.4 rushing yards per game and ranked 101st in FBS in time of possession. King threw the most interceptions (16) in the ACC last season, and a few key turnovers could help the Seminoles run away. The Seminoles produced the sixth-highest sack rate (9.4%) in FBS last season and will likely look to pressure King into mistakes.
