Stolen Lexus Crashes During Police Chase in Memphis, Four Hospitalized
Four individuals were injured in Parkway Village when a stolen Lexus, in an attempt to elude police officers, crashed into a Lincoln Town Car at the intersection of Thousand Oaks and American Way yesterday afternoon, according to Memphis Police Department statements. WREG reports that while the Lincoln's driver was not seriously injured, two of the Lexus's occupants were listed in critical condition after being taken to the hospital, with a third suffering non-critical injuries.
The events unfolded around 4:32 pm when officers, having located the stolen vehicle in a parking lot on the 2700 block of Perkins, approached the Lexus on foot. The suspects, trying to escape, fled the scene as officers deployed stop sticks, according to FOX13 Memphis. Not long after, the stolen car was involved in the collision.
Following the crash, three individuals were extracted from the stolen Lexus and taken to Regional One. Among them, one was notably listed as being in a critical condition. Despite the severity of the crash and the critical status of the individuals, the Memphis Police Department has revealed that no charges have been filed at this moment, as the investigation remains active.
Local Memphis adds that the driver of the vehicle struck by the Lexus is expected to recover. The other car, when seen by police on Thousand Oaks and American Way, culminated in a crash with the Lexus that led to the subsequent hospitalizations.
