Squid Game star hints that hit Netflix show has ‘so many twists’ in brutal second series
FANS have been waiting anxiously for the second season of Squid Game ever since the first went viral on Netflix in 2021.
While actor Lee Jung-jae still cannot reveal when it will be released, he did give some clues about what the new storyline will be like.

He played main character Seong Gi-hun in series one, which followed the down-and-out man as he agreed to compete in a series of children’s games with bloody consequences in the hopes of winning a large cash prize.
In a recent interview with RadioTimes, Lee admitted: “I think the script for season 2 is even more interesting than season 1, and there is going to be a new set of characters as well.
“So I think the audience is going to be really excited about it.
“One thing I felt while reading the script is that there is an even deeper emotion that’s discovered within season 2, and also I think the audience will feel like, ‘Where is this story going?’
“Because there’s so many twists and turns that happen.”
Show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk previously shared that he felt under pressure after the first season received such an overwhelming reaction.
He took his time planning out the second installment in an attempt to make sure that it lives up to fan expectations.
However, Netflix hinted at a 2024 release date earlier this year, so it could be coming to screens any time.
The original hit Korean thriller saw Gi-hun kidnapped alongside hundreds of other South Koreans and forced to take part in deadly challenges.
The players were eventually given the choice to go home or continue competing – but with the winnings sitting at a life changing 45.6 billion won (£270k), there was only one option for the working class participants.
Gi-hun won the games but during the process lost many of his dear friends and returned to reality horrified by the things he had seen.
The trailer for the second season showed him warning a mysterious caller who worked for the games that he will hunt down everyone involved.
