Who could England play in the next round? Route to Euro 2024 final
The second round of matches in the Euros 2024 group stage has now been played, and while England are still very much in the tournament, fans are perhaps less hopeful for their chances than they were a couple of weeks ago.
The performance by the Three Lions in their match against Denmark, which resulted in a 1-1 draw, saw them on shaky ground, a week on from their win against Serbia.
The team are still expected to top Group C, but it will be all to play for in their next match against Slovenia on Tuesday 25th June.

It’s understandable that eyes will turn to England’s path to the final should they get out of the groups.
But who waits for them in the knockout stages?
RadioTimes.com looks at the most likely path England may tread if they advance through the rounds at Euro 2024 – assuming there are no major shocks.

Who could England play in the round of 16?
If England win Group C: They will face the best third-placed side from either Group D (Netherlands, France, Poland, Austria), Group E (Ukraine, Slovakia, Belgium, Romania) or Group F (Portugal, Czech Republic, Georgia, Turkey) in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday 30th June.
As things stand after two rounds of matches, that opponent would be Austria, Slovakia or Czech Republic.
If England finish second in Group C: They will play the winners of Group A (Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland) in Dortmund on Saturday 29th June.
In that scenario, they could be set for an early meeting with tournament hosts Germany.
If England finish third and still qualify: They will be drawn against the winners of Group E (Ukraine, Slovakia, Belgium, Romania) in Munich on Tuesday 2nd July, or winners of Group F (Portugal, Czech Republic, Georgia, Turkey) in Frankfurt on Monday 1st July.
In that scenario, the most likely opponents would be Belgium or Portugal.

Who could England play in the quarter-finals?
If England win Group C and advance through the Round of 16: They will face the winners of a match between Group A runners-up (currently Switzerland) and Group B runners-up (currently Italy). However, you could also throw Spain, Croatia, Hungary or even Scotland into the mix lying in wait for them in Stuttgart on Friday 5th July.
England’s path beyond the round of 16 should they qualify as one of the best third-placed sides can’t be predicted until the group stages are finished, as it’s based on which other third-placed teams qualify.

Who could England play in the semi-finals?
If England win Group C: They will most likely face either France, who knocked them out of the World Cup in Qatar, or Belgium in the semi-finals.
If England finish second in Group C: They would most likely face Netherlands or Portugal for a place in the final.

Who could England play in the final?
The Euro 2024 final takes place at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday 14th July, and if England can make it there, then they will be on the verge of something very special.
If England win Group C: They will most likely face Portugal or Germany in the final.
If England finish second in Group C: They will most likely face France in the final.
