'Once-In-A-Lifetime' Opportunity For IL Olympic Wrestler: GoFundMe
BROADVIEW, IL — In her quest to make the U.S. Olympic women's wrestling team, Kennedy Blades defeated a six-time world champion and the returning silver medalist to secure her spot. Now, the family of the Broadview resident are hoping to "ensure Kennedy has access to the best resources and training facilities to excel at the Olympics," and have started a fundraising campaign. Saul Pulido and Cindy Ramos, Blades' parents, created the GoFundMe earlier this week with a goal of raising $30,000. As of Friday afternoon, over $13,000 has been donated. Blades is slated to wrestle at the Paris Summer Olympics between Aug. 10 and Aug. 11. "This is a dream and a goal of Kennedy's since she was 7 years old, and we couldn't be prouder," her parents said. "Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in Kennedy's Olympic journey. Let's come together to support our talented athlete as she represents our country on the world stage," her parents said.
