The CW boss sparks cancellation fears after admitting to ‘discussions’ on drama series – as fans demand Season 5 renewal
THE CW fans have begun fearing that one of the network’s most beloved shows will soon be canceled.
Walker, starring Jared Padalecki, is currently in its fourth season, and The CW boss Brad Schwartz recently opened up about its future.

After 15 seasons of starring as Dean Winchester on The CW’s Supernatural, Jared began playing Texas Ranger Cordell Walker on Walker in 2021.
Season 4 of the series, which follows Walker’s personal and professional life as a ranger, is currently airing.
Though the new batch of episodes only began last month, fans have already started to worry that there might not be a Season 5.
The show has not yet been renewed or canceled, and network bosses shared in new interviews that its fate is still up in the air.
Cancellation fears began when neither Walker nor that of another popular CW show All American were on the recently-announced network’s fall 2024 schedule.
The CW bosses Dennis Miller and the aforementioned Brad explained to Deadline that they are currently in talks about what’s to come for these two shows.
LOOKING AHEAD
Brad, President of Entertainment at The CW, said a decision on All American, which is currently airing its sixth season, will arrive “soon.”
He said that those involved are “talking about it right now” and explained that the show’s streaming deal with Netflix “makes it a little more interesting for everybody.”
“All American is on the air right now, so we’re seeing how that does,” he added, before sharing that Walker is also only a few episodes into its season.
“I feel like we have really gotten to a 12 month a year development and greenlight cycle,” Brad said, before revealing that fans will hear about “some pickups in the next few weeks.”
While Brad noted the Netflix deal and an impending decision for All American, his tease about Walker’s future was a bit more cryptic.
“On Walker, we’ve had many conversations, Dennis has had some conversations recently as well, many conversations with CBS [Studios] about continuing or not continuing that show,” he revealed.

While speaking with TVLine, Brad shared whether or not the Season 4 finale of Walker could act as an acceptable series finale.
“The ending is extraordinarily satisfying,” he said. “But there are also some amazing hooks in that last episode [that could set up a Season 5].”
“It’s a very, very good finale,” The CW boss teased.
WORRYING FANS
Fans became concerned that conversations about Walker won’t go the way they want them to and are campaigning for the show to be renewed.
“Walker is so amazing and absolutely deserves and needs a season 5,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“It would be deeply silly of The CW to cancel their most watched show,” a second worried fan tweeted. “Not only that, it’s been said time and time again that Walker is the one the best sets to be working on.”
“Taking away that space would be a huge mistake,” the online user added.
“#Walker has the viewership and quality, everything,” a third viewer wrote. “I’m begging these studios and people to continue investing in it and recognize its worth.”
Brad added that the All American and All American: Homecoming season finales could also work as series finales but said producers weren’t specifically told to plan them that way.
All American is a sports drama following Daniel Ezra as football star Spencer James as he goes from high school player to college standout working his way to becoming a pro player.
