Lincoln Park Zoo's Enchanting ZooLights Returns for 30th Anniversary with New Attractions in Chicago

The dazzling spectacle of ZooLights is set to ignite the winter nights at Lincoln Park Zoo for its 30th sparkling year. Scheduled to commence on November 15, the event will light up the zoo with over three million twinkling lights, creating a festive wonderland until it wraps up on January 5, according to NBC Chicago. It's a holiday tradition that's been a part of Chicago's fabric for three decades, offering joyous nights under the shimmer of holiday bulbs to countless visitors.
While the ZooLights will illuminate the zoo from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and again from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, the event is slated to be closed on Tuesdays. The gates to this winter wonderland will, however, also be open on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving—a little bonus for holiday revelers. As reported by WGN TV, Event Manager Meg Hein shared her enthusiasm for the festival's milestone year, "We're honored that ZooLights Presented by ComEd and Invesco QQQ has been a part of so many families' memories over the past 30 years, and we’re excited to make even more memories for years to come."
Free admission nights at ZooLights have been a crowd favorite, and this year is no different with a generous handful of dates. Visitors can enjoy the luminous display without spending a dime on select Mondays, specifically on November 18 and 25 as well as December 2, 9, 16, and 30. It's imperative to note that entry to these free nights still requires tickets, so plan ahead and grab yours early if you're vying for one of these coveted spots.
This year's ZooLights offers tickets priced at a modest $7—$10 per person, varying by date, a setup that neatly dovetails with the event's aim: to raise funds that keep the Lincoln Park Zoo free and open to the public throughout the year. The light festival not only serves as an enchanting holiday tradition but also as a pillar of support for the continued legacy of this beloved urban oasis. Should you fancy an earlier booking, tickets are available for Lincoln Park Zoo members starting October 1 and to the general public on October 8, details disclosed by WGN TV.
New features this season include the "Light Lounge" at the Foreman Pavilion, beckoning guests to rest their weary feet amidst family-friendly displays and activities or to indulge in a more adult-centric experience with unique food and drink offerings. "We’re ready to welcome everyone back this holiday season as Lincoln Park Zoo transforms into a magical winter wonderland in the heart of Chicago," Meg Hein said in an announcement shared by NBC Chicago.
