“I was not emotionally prepared..”: Garp-Kuzan Flashback Scene Outclasses Marineford and Wano War When It Comes to Character Acting Animation

The bond was never explored to its fullest, so fans were excited to see how it unfolded. After the episode was released, everyone was left speechless by Toei Animation’s quality of animation.
Garp vs. Kuzan began a few episodes earlier. However, as the episodes went on, people saw that the bond ran deeper than they thought. Some fans even mentioned that it had surpassed Marineford and Wano in that regard.

The Egghead arc has several features up until now with Monkey D. Garp vs. Kuzan currently ongoing. Both of them were quite worn out from fighting so long. Before Koby, Kuzan was Garp’s pupil and he entrusted all of his knowledge to the Hie Hie no Mi user. Since the former Marine Admiral joined the Blackbeard Pirates, Garp felt that he failed in the upbringing of his pupil. On the other hand, Kuzan is full of respect for Garp and loves him from the core of his heart.

As a result, the battle took a toll on them both physically and mentally. Even though the situation was heavy, it was Toei Animation who took away all the credit due to its breathtaking animation. One Piece Episode 1121 featured a flashback where Kuzan and Garp shared a moment. The scene was so beautifully animated with the frames being so smooth. The action and reaction of the characters were natural and the color palette was equally good.

Post New World, Marineford War’s animation was hailed as the best, and later, it was the Wano arc that took the crown. However, with the latest episode, Garp vs. Kuzan will be leading the charts. The sudden transition from the flashback to the present day was praiseworthy. It was gorgeous to watch them fight. Then the fight began with both exchanging Haki blows and destroying the surroundings. The background music was the perfect partner for the animation.

One Piece's animation is now on another level than others in terms of action— UBL2300 (@UBL2300) October 6, 2024
The Egghead arc is the first arc of the Final Saga. Eiichiro Oda left the best for the last. The arc had already featured, Shanks vs. Kid, Blackbeard vs. Law, and Lucci vs. Luffy. Garp vs. Kuzan is not the end and there are several things left to be explored. The most crucial of them all is Bartholomew Kuma’s backstory. Watching the latest animation, everyone’s expectations have increased. At the moment, all of them are busy enjoying episode 1121.
