Bacot last appeared for the Utah Jazz in the NBA Summer League. This comes after he went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft.
In his three games this summer, Bacot averaged 8.3 points, five rebounds, 1.7 steals, a block, and an assist per game. He did so while shooting a team-high of 61.1% from the field.
Bacot spent five seasons with the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. Over his 169 appearances for UNC, he posted 13.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks on 55.2% shooting overall.
In that span, Bacot also made school and conference history. He left as their all-time leader in rebounds, offensive rebounds, and double-doubles while being second-ever in scoring. He was first in games played, tied for first in double-doubles, second in rebounds, and ninth in scoring within the Top-10 all-time in the ACC.
Those numbers earned him recognition both in the league and nationally. He was a four-time All-ACC selection while also earning some All-American honors and being in the running for the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award.
Bacot was dominant and productive over his half-decade in college. He’ll now look to bring that to the next level as a part of the Grizzlies following today’s signing.
Bacot shares he made over $2 million in NIL at North Carolina
Armando Bacot’s career at North Carolina will live on forever in the collegiate record books. It’s also living on now in his checkbook too.
During his time in Chapel Hill, Bacot worked alongside notable companies in NIL. Now that he’s out of college, Bacot decided to peel back the curtain on what the space looks like for a top talent at a destination school.
“$2 million plus – but I’m saying that humbly, though,” Bacot told Theo Pinson and AJ Richardson on ‘Run Your Race’. “But that speaks on a brand of Carolina. Because, if I didn’t go to Carolina, doing deals with Turbo Tax all those people? I go to Carolina so I’m able to.”
“Like, when you go to Carolina, like recruits, everything, you go to Carolina and you handle business, you go out there and play, somewhat be marketable and stuff like that? It pays. I can never say a bad word about Carolina because I’ve got life-changing money just in college playing basketball – life-changing money. I’m forever thankful because to be able to make over $2 million, just in college? It’s crazy.”
