Historic Musical Instrument On Display In Avon

AVON, CT — A historic slice of local music-making history is on display at the Avon Free Public Library through the end of the month.A classic violin owned by a prominent Avon benefactor is on display in the history case of the library, 281 Country Club Road.It is a restored, "Hadsell" violin and dates back to the end of World War I.The musical instrument was donated by the descendants of Clinton Hadsell (1871-1947), a prominent Avon resident and the owner of the violin.The violin is one of many items donated in 2006 by the Hadsell family and is part of a wider collection of old artifacts donated to the town.After years of being in disrepair, the violin was recently restored by Michael Seery of Seery Strings in Bristol as part of a project funded by the national "Save America’s Treasures" project.For more information on the Hadsell family collection in Avon, click on this link.The article Historic Musical Instrument On Display In Avon appeared first on Avon, CT Patch.
