NEW YORK CITY — Rodents, roaches, lead paint: every day, inspectors from the city's housing department fan out across the five boroughs, walking through rental apartments and issuing violations when they find poor conditions.When violations are found, the inspection results are posted publicly and broken down into three main categories — including one, Class C, reserved for "immediately hazardous" problems like peeling lead paint, rodent infestations, and lack of heat or hot water.Landlords must then fix the problem within a set timeframe — 24 hours for many of the Class C violations, or up to 21 days for less-urgent ones.In the meantime, city records allow New Yorkers to see which buildings have been flagged for hazardous conditions — and perhaps plan their next apartment move accordingly.Patch made an interactive map showing all the buildings across our dozen neighborhood coverage areas in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens — zoom in on the map below and click on an icon to read about each violation:The article MAP: Did NYC Find A Hazardous Problem In Your Building This Week? appeared first on Upper East Side, NY Patch.
