1 Hurt, 5 Arrested In Metro Detroit Police Shooting: MSP
MELVINDALE, MI — A man was injured and five other people were arrested in connection with a police shooting in Melvindale early Sunday morning, according to Michigan State Police.Troopers spotted a car that was stolen out of Sterling Heights at 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Schaefer Road near Interstate 75, according to police.When troopers tried stopping the car, the driver took off and hit one of the patrol cars head on, according to police.There were six people inside the reported stolen car, and one of them had a gun, according to police.After the crash, troopers fired shots, striking a 21-year-old man, who was taken to a nearby hospital where he was in surgery, according to police.All the suspected thieves then ran from the stolen car and troopers quickly captured five, including two adults and three minors, according to police.Police believe the suspected thieves were breaking into vehicles at a storage unit for Ford and GM vehicles.No officers or anyone else was injured in the crash or shooting, according to police.Police did not release any further details about the shooting, including how many shots were fired or how many officers fired shots.Police were still investigating the shooting and will turn over their findings to the prosecutor's office.The article 1 Hurt, 5 Arrested In Metro Detroit Police Shooting: MSP appeared first on Dearborn, MI Patch.
