Nebraska can see ATH Jeremiah Jones playing multiple positions
Jeremiah Jones from Murray (Ky.) learned a lot about Nebraska during his official visit. The stereotypes about the area were false, and he was amazed by the Nebraska coaching staff. The Huskers can see Jones in their secondary, playing linebacker or possibly even wide receiver. What Jones understands about Nebraska is that they really want him on their team.
“It was amazing,” Jones said. “Lincoln is much more than I expected. I didn’t know too much about it; I thought it was just going to be cornfields. It was so much more. It’s a great city.
“I had a great time with the coaches and all of the guys that recruited me. They’re great guys. Spending time with all of the coaches and the great things I saw was amazing.”
Jones spent a lot of time with the Nebraska coaches. The defensive staff shared with Jones where they saw him playing in the secondary or where that could lead if he got big enough. Also, the Nebraska wide receivers coach is interested in having Jones in his room as well.
“I talked to Coach Cooper, Coach White, Chris Coulter, and Coach Rhule. I spent time with Coach McGuire, too. Nebraska likes me as a rover safety. I could come down and play middle linebacker or be in the box, cover, drop back, and middle third. It’s basically the guy that they move around.
“I am being recruited to play at that spot on defense, but offensively, coach McGuire told me he wanted me to come and play the X receiver spot for him. Offensively, I could do that as well. They told me they just wanted me there and that I could play multiple positions, and if I got big enough, I could move down to linebacker. I know I can do it.”
Player host from Nebraska shared a lot with Jeremiah Jones
Jones was 6-foot.4.75 and 216 pounds this weekend in Lincoln. He was hosted by a player who has already changed positions once on defense and has seen the difference between the old staff and the new staff at Nebraska.
“My player host was Gage Stenger,” Jones said. “He started as a rover and moved to linebacker. He’s seen a couple of coaching staffs at Nebraska and told me that the new staff is something special. It’s really changed Nebraska for the better and made it a brotherhood. He told me Nebraska was nothing like it is now before coach Rhule came. Gage wants me there on the team.”
Jones was also able to see all of Nebraska’s facilities this weekend. He had seen the facilities at several other schools before his official visit to Nebraska. He said it’s bigger in Nebraska, and the people are better, too.
“I have been to Louisville for an official visit and saw Florida State. But all of the facilities here in Nebraska were bigger and better. The people are just better. Everyone is nice and kind. It’s bigger in Nebraska!”
A decision is coming up quickly for Jones. He plans to go home and think about things for about a week. As he was boarding the plane leaving Nebraska he said that the Huskers were on top going into the week to ponder things.
“I think this visit makes Nebraska my No. 1,” Jones said. “My plan is to announce my commitment on Monday of next week (July 1).”
