Multiple people have died after fatal floods swept into Texas, according to reports.
Flooding in central Texas — where the Guadalupe River reached its second-highest height ever on Friday, July 4 — has resulted in at least six fatalities with more to come, Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly confirmed, according to NBC affiliate News 4 San Antonio, ABC affiliate KVUE and the Austin American Statesman.
The Kerr County Sheriff's Office also confirmed "fatalities," but did not state a specific figure. They encouraged residents "to shelter in place and not attempt travel."
"Those near creeks, streams, and the Guadalupe River should immediately move to higher ground," they cautioned.
PEOPLE has contacted both the Kerry County Sheriff's Office and Judge Kelly for additional information.

According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the river climbed to 34.76 feet at around noon local time on Friday. NOAA described the flooding as "disastrous" and "life threatening," noting that it spread "over a mile across in some areas, flooding many homes" — including "some to the roof."
"Large areas of the flood plain are cut off drowning hundreds of cattle," the agency shared. "Most roads and bridges near the river flood and are extremely dangerous to motorists, cutting off residents in some areas until the water recedes."
At a press conference on Friday morning, Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring said the floods came while people were asleep on Thursday, July 3, according to CNN.
After thanking first responders for “working to save lives, save property," the mayor said tearfully, “Please, pray for our community."
