This will be the first game USC plays without starting defensive end Anthony Lucas as he will miss the remainder of the season due to injury. The Trojans remain without linebackers Eric Gentry and Raesjon Davis, who plan to utilize redshirt years this season. USC has several options at defensive end, but getting production out of likely starters Jamil Muhammad and Braylan Shelby is a must against Maryland.
Lincoln Riley said this week that tight end Lake McRee was ahead of schedule in his return and that could come either in this game or next. McRee has been sidelined since taking a hard hit to his knee against Michigan. The Trojans relied heavily on backup tight ends Kade Eldridge and Walker Lyons in his absence. We’ll see if McRee is back
Covington was listed as “questionable” last week and stays there again. He suffered an injury late in the game against Minnesota and hasn’t played since.
Quinones appears on the report for the first time this season. He was in uniform and pads last week against Penn State but did not participate in pre-game warmups. USC does have backup center Kilian O’Connor available again after he missed several weeks due to an early-season injury. So the Trojans are covered if they need to go to the bench for a backup center.

S Dante Trader Jr.
Thoughts on players listed
Trader is the biggest name to watch here as the veteran defensive back missed the game against Northwestern and is on the cusp of returning to the field, according to head coach Mike Locksley. He ranks fourth on the team in tackles, has one of Maryland’s interceptions and is a veteran presence in the secondary.
