Fremont Police Arrest Brandon Jacques, Suspected Sex Offender with Felony Warrants
Early on May 12, a man was arrested on train tracks at the Sullivan Underpass near Mission Blvd in Fremont. Police booked Brandon Jacques, 41, a known sex offender, on multiple felony warrants after they received a tip-off about suspicious activities. According to the Fremont Police Department, the early morning bust was quickly linked to outstanding legal woes for Jacques, who's racked up a rap sheet that reads like a crime novel.
Jacques, a Fremont local who sometimes goes by Brandon Cramer, turned out to be more than just a trespasser. He was on the hook for three felony counts of failing to register as a sex offender and a parole violation. The Fremont police, in a statement on their website, detailed his lurid history of felonies, including sodomy of the drugged victim and previous slip-ups on the sex offender registry along with violating parole. His misdemeanors ain't pretty either, with assault, battery, and resisting law enforcement all in the mix.
When Fremont PD's dispatch got wind of who they were dealing with, the officers moved swiftly. Jacques was promptly cuffed and taken to Santa Rita Jail, where he'll wait to face the music for his latest flout of the law. His arrest throws a harsh light on the struggles to keep tabs on sex offenders, bringing into question just how many times someone can ignore the law before they are put away for good.
The cops are tipping their hats to the vigilantes who keep their eyes peeled for trouble and don’t zip their lips when they spy something suspect. "We want to thank the community for their assistance in reporting criminal activity," said a representative of the Fremont PD. They're urging anyone with a nose for trouble to call (510) 790-6800, option 3, or shoot an anonymous text to 888-777 with the opener "Tip FREMONTPD." And, for a dire emergency, just dial 911.
