‘NCIS: Origins’ Star Hints at Lala’s Season 2 Return After Her Death
NCIS: Origins fans just received a glimmer of hope that Mariel Molino’s beloved character, Lala Dominguez, is alive in season 2.The actress, 32, hinted at her potential return to the CBS series when she shared a Monday, July 28, Instagram Story photo of her dog on the Paramount lot where NCIS: Origins is filming season 2. Molino’s costar Kyle Schmid — who plays Mike Franks on the procedural drama — posted a picture from the same location as he began shooting scenes for season 2.

Fans have been clamoring for information about Molino’s season 2 involvement ever since a season 1 finale cliffhanger suggested that her character, Lala, was killed in a car accident. After the shocking moment aired in April, Molino implied that her time on NCIS: Origins had indeed come to an end.“[I am going to miss] just our crew. Our crew and our cast, we get along so well. I miss seeing all the familiar faces every morning, joking around, doing this show that we love to do so much,” she told TVLine at the time. “I feel really lucky. I really like these guys, I like my team, I really like my character. North declined to confirm whether her character was actually dead.“We can’t promise that [Lala is alive], but we can promise that you’ll get an answer if you come back in season 2,” North told Us Weekly in April. “Going into this, we wanted to take big swings. Mariel knew going into this that we were going to take big swings and she was on board for whatever was the best way to make the audience feel something in a truthful way. That’s what we’re doing.”Season 2 of NCIS: Origins premieres on CBS Tuesday, October 14, at 9 p.m. ET.
