Life changes forever as dying Paul undergoes tragic operation in Coronation Street

Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) life is to change forever in Coronation Street next week as he has a feeding tube fitted.
Since Paul was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in the long-running ITV soap, his greatest fear has been the knowledge that he’ll lose control of his bodily functions and will be unable to do anything for himself.
He’s also struggled with the dependancy he’s had to place on carers and his husband Billy (Daniel Brocklebank).
Knowing that one of the things that would soon become a problem would be losing the ability to speak, Paul obtained some equipment that could replicate his voice.
Later, ahead of ‘daughter’ Summer’s (Harriet Bibby) trip to America to study, the family gathered for a celebratory meal and it became clear that he was struggling to swallow.

As a result, Paul’s food has had to be puréed and recent scenes have shown him struggling to breathe.
Huge twists have since followed, with the arrival of his estranged and abusive father Denny (Danny Cunningham) and his mum Bernie secretly tracking down her secret son Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Heading to his house, he pretended not to know her and left her desperate for answers.

In upcoming scenes, Bernie emotionally confides in boyfriend Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) that it would’ve been Kit’s birthday, but she is quickly stopped in her tracks (quite literally) when her car begins to be towed away – as she was about to set off for Paul’s operation.
As she spots Kit nearby, she becomes convinced that he’s responsible, but is still unaware that he’s her son.
She later asks him to hear her out (Picture: ITV)

However, that all changes when she marches down to the police station to make a complaint and notices him celebrating with his colleagues – it’s his birthday, and he’s a copper!
Later in the day, as Billy begins to reverse into disabled parking bay outside of Weatherfield General, another car swoops in but luckily Kit is on hand to flash his police ID and force the drive to find another space.
Following the op, Billy and Paul tell Bernie about the kindhearted police officer who came to their rescue and she is left guilt ridden. She calls back to the police station and thanks him for his actions – and asks him to hear her out.
Realising that his brother is dying, will Kit allow Bernie into his inner circle?
