Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s marital troubles have taken over the headlines after their two-year union hit a bumpy patch. Even though they are reportedly living apart, there was one thing that was reassuring fans that the dynamic duo was trying to work out their issues. However, Affleck just made an eyebrow-raising move that could signal that he’s ready to move on.
On Friday, the 51-year-old actor was spotted in his car without his wedding ring on his left finger, per TMZ. While that may seem like no big deal to the average person, Affleck is PR savvy enough to know that the paparazzi is going to be following his every move right now — whether he likes it or not. So, forgetting a very important accessory that signifies your Lopez marriage is not something you casually forget to put on. In the snapshots, he also puts up his left hand to move the sun visor in his vehicle, likely knowing that the camera lens is going to catch that moment. Is he sending fans a signal?

Lopez and Affleck have been silent about their alleged separation, but the fact that he’s living in Brentwood and she’s staying at their $60 million Beverly Hills home speaks volumes. On Friday, the “Jenny From the Block” singer was caught by paparazzi exiting a dance rehearsal as she preps for her upcoming tour. She had a ring on her left finger, but Page Six was unsure if it was her wedding band or another piece of jewelry from her collection.
The Accountant star has always been a reluctant public figure, so it’s wild that he’s dated someone who thrives in the limelight. They not only dated once, but he and Lopez came together after 17 years apart, giving fans a second chance at Bennifer. It seems that their different PR styles have always been a sticking point in their relationship, though. “When Jen and I broke up before, the catalyst for that was the amount of scrutiny around our private life,” he explained in his wife’s Greatest Love Story Never Told documentary in February. “I had a very firm sense of boundaries, initially, around the press.”
That boundary didn’t last very long because Affleck didn’t believe that it was “a fair thing to ask.” He added, “It’s sort of like you’re gonna marry a boat captain and [say] like, ‘Well, I don’t like the water. We’re just two people with different approaches, trying to learn to compromise.” Perhaps the constant need to compromise was just too much for the couple, who are easily defined by the mantra that “opposites attract.” In the end, they have to work toward happiness whether it is together or apart.
