Key 2025 RB target Jasper Parker locks in Michigan official visit, shares latest
Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford made his way to Louisiana last week to see three-star 2025 target Jasper Parker.
The New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw prospect enjoyed meeting with Alford, who made a strong pitch.
“It was great,” Parker said. “He emphasized the need for me to go to Michigan. He just reiterated a lot of things and showed why they are a powerful option in this recruiting process. We talked schemes, plans for enrolling and just grew closer.”
While Parker and Alford have only been communicating for a couple of months, the two have already built a strong bond.
“He’s way more than a coach,” Parker said. “He’s a mentor. He’s a role model. The way he talks to his family and everybody with respect stands out. It shows you how good of a person. He’s wise and has a lot of years of experience.”
Alford is getting a boost from area recruiter Ron Bellamy, a fellow New Orleans native who also attended Archbishop Shaw.
“Coach Bellamy went to my high school, so we chop it up and talk all the time,” Parker said. “He was in my shoes making decisions like this. He told me why it was the right decision and choice. He talked to my parents about taking care of me.”
Parker made his first unofficial visit to Michigan this spring and is now set to return for his official visit on June 14.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the culture more in-depth,” Parker said. “I was there for two days this spring and saw so much. I learned a lot about Ann Arbor as a community and the football team. But I’m looking to dive deeper into things off the field, the alumni and a day in the life of a player at Michigan.”
So where does Michigan stand going into the OV?
“They are definitely top on my list,” Parker said. “They have placed themselves within striking distance. They are up there. Michigan has been a staple of excellence for years.”
Parker has already taken an official visit to Oklahoma State. Along with Michigan, Parker has summer official visits scheduled with USC (May 31), Georgia Tech (June 7) and Arizona (June 21).
At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Parker is ranked as the No. 39 running back and No. 511 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 18 overall recruit in the state of Louisiana.
