Man Found In Schuylkill River Last Month Was Shot In Head: Police

PHILADELPHIA — A $20,000 reward is on the table after Philadelphia Police said the body found in the Schuylkill River in early February was that of a murder victim.Authorities were called to the Schuylkill River near Kelly Drive and Midvale Avenue at about 10:17 a.m. Feb. 7 for a report of a body floating in the river.A passerby discovered the body, and crews pulled it from the waster at about 10:56 a.m.The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's officer during a post-mortem examination discovered a single gunshot wound just behind his right ear, along with a possible graze wound to the lower right back of the head. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.The body was identified as Joshua Daywalt, 35, formerly of Phoenixville.Police said Daywalt, who also went by the name Michael Hall, was known to frequent the Manayunk area, particularly near the Green Lane Bridge at Main Street and Green Lane.Daywalt was homeless, police said.Anyone with information is urged to contact the unit at 215-686-3334 or provide anonymous tips through the PPD tip line at 215-686-8477.A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with Daywalt's killing.The article Man Found In Schuylkill River Last Month Was Shot In Head: Police appeared first on Philadelphia, PA Patch.
