My dedication is evident through years of volunteering and participating in various community events, organizations, and activities. Serving on the town council would allow me to further this commitment. What sets you apart from the other candidates? My education and experience equip me with a fresh perspective and practical knowledge that will enable me to address the challenges facing Stafford Township in a thoughtful and innovative way. What is the most pressing issue facing Stafford? The most pressing issue facing Stafford, by far, is the mounting municipal debt caused by the lack of fiscal responsibility. The current Mayor and council have raised the debt to $73 million, an increase of 35% in just five years. And to cover those mounting costs, they have in turn passed that expense on to the residents, choosing to raise the tax levy. The current council continues to borrow and spend on poorly planned and luxury projects. It’s time for leadership that will prioritize responsible spending and focus on essential projects. How do you plan to keep taxes low while still maintaining services for Stafford? Our plan for keeping taxes low while maintaining services in Stafford includes prioritizing projects based on necessity, spacing out large ticket projects, and determining reductions, deferrals, or eliminations on bond ordinance line items. And by sharing these itemized ordinances, we will be enhancing transparency, allowing residents to review the proposed expenditures and voice their opinions. In your opinion, what is the best part of living in Stafford?Stafford Township has an amazing community, one we have seen come together and rise to any challenge to help one another. But none of it would be possible without the public infrastructure, proper maintenance, and services we have. The greatest priority is to continue the support of our first responders, Police, Fire, and EMS, as well as maintain our public infrastructure. The article Election 2024: Stafford Township Council Candidate Moira Krier appeared first on Barnegat-Manahawkin, NJ Patch.
