Meat Recalled For Listeria Shipped To NJ Schools: See Full List
NEW JERSEY — Meat and poultry products that have been recalled over possible listeria contamination were shipped to dozens of New Jersey schools, according to a new list released by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.In an update posted Thursday, the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service released a "preliminary list" of hundreds of schools that received ready-to-eat products recalled by BrucePac. Additional items including pastas and frozen meals sold at Costco and other stores may also be contaminated. Shortly after, officials warned many of the products were shipped to schools. Its website says it serves industrial, food service and retail clients.No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported, according to the alert.Eating food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects people who are pregnant, aged 65 or older, or with weakened immune systems.
