Boston Police Nab NH Fugitive, ‘Ponytail Mike,’ On MA Court Warrants
CONCORD, NH — Another fugitive of the week in New Hampshire has been apprehended, according to the state corrections department.Michael George Dewhurst, 48, was wanted on a probation violation after being convicted of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon charge after an arrest in Nashua from a pursuit that started in Massachusetts. He was featured in September 2023. Dewhurst, known by the nickname “Ponytail Mike,” was thought to be in the Lakes Region or Massachusetts. On Tuesday, he was arrested by Boston police on “multiple warrants issued out of Roxbury District and Quincy District courts,” according to the corrections department. “Upon contact by Boston PD,” investigators said, “Mr. Dewhurst resisted arrest, resulting in a minor injury to one of the officers involved. Dewhurst has been charged with resisting arrest in addition to the previous warrants issued against him.According to superior court records, Dewhurst was charged with felony reckless conduct-deadly weapon, disobeying an officer, and resisting arrest or detention charges, as well as a misuse-failure to display plates violation in September 2015 in Nashua. At the time, he was living in Lynnfield, MA. Dewhurst pleaded guilty to the felony, disobeying, and resisting charges in March 2018. His sentence was amended in August 2019 — with the sentencing commencing upon release from a Massachusetts prison. In August 2022, Dewhurst was accused of felony theft in Farmington. He pleaded guilty to the charge on January 2023. Dewhurst had a hearing on a deferred sentence on April 5, which he failed to appear at, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.Corrections thanked Boston police for assisting with the case and offered support to the injured officer.
