Kimberly Burch, the fiancée of Faster Pussycat’s lead singer Taime Downe, is presumed dead after reportedly falling overboard on a Royal Caribbean cruise. The tragic incident occurred on March 2, the first night of The ‘80s Cruise, a seven-day trip that set sail from Miami.
According to Kimberly’s mother, Carnell Burch, Downe personally called her to inform her of the situation. She stated that Kimberly had been drinking before she fell, which she found unusual for her daughter. However, the exact circumstances of how she went overboard remain uncertain. (via TMZ)
Royal Caribbean confirmed that the crew immediately launched a search and rescue mission. The U.S. Coast Guard also assisted in the search, which took place about 20 miles off the coast of Freeport, Bahamas. Despite these efforts, Kimberly’s body has not yet recovered and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force later suspended the search.
Kimberly Burch had joined Downe on the cruise as Faster Pussycat was among the scheduled performers, alongside acts like Squeeze, Tiffany, Adam Ant, and Men at Work. The couple had reportedly been together for more than five years. Burch was 56 years old at the time of the incident.
Kimberly Burch’s family has not yet spoken directly with authorities and is now seeking answers regarding the incident. Her mother expressed disbelief that Kimberly would have intentionally harmed herself, emphasizing that she was excited about the trip.
