By Virginia Dream FC
In front of over 8,000 fans at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Virginia Dream FC defeated Annapolis Blues FC 2-0 and were crowned Mid-Atlantic Conference Champions. This result advances Falls Church City’s team to the regional stage against FC Motown in at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey on Wednesday, July 17 at 7:30 pm.
“The Little City’s” team put on a mature, clinical performance with a first-half goal by Harri Hawkins from a free kick and a second-half goal from Anthony Diaz. Virginia Dream FC goalkeeper Bill Hamid, who is best known for his time with the U.S. Men’s National Team and D.C. United, made several outstanding saves to earn a shutout.
“Although this is a huge achievement considering this is only our second year, we are confident that with this caliber of players and coaches, we can keep moving forward in the playoffs,” Virginia Dream FC owner Lucas Mendes said.
Off the field, the Dream’s accomplishments have been just as impressive. As part of the team’s vision to blend soccer with fashion, art, and music, the team’s kits have garnered worldwide attention from soccer fashion entities like SoccerBible (U.S.), Versus (U.K.), and Nsssports (Italy).
