MOORESTOWN, NJ — Three cars recently stolen in Moorestown were left unlocked or with keys inside, according to the township police director.Moorestown police have recently handled a "rash" of car break-ins, says Police Director Patrick J. Reilly, Jr. In three recent cases, the suspects had easy access to each vehicle.Two recently stolen cars were left unlocked, while one had the key fob inside, Reilly said Thursday in a letter to the community. Detectives recovered the vehicles within 12 hours, and the involved suspects have been charged. But the police director reminded the public to keep their vehicles locked."While Moorestown is a safe community, it is not immune from theft and other crimes," Reilly said. "We ask residents to use common sense, be aware of your surroundings and take precautions to protect your belongings."Residents should lock their vehicles and their home doors and windows, while removing personal belongings from their car, Reilly says. If you have a security camera, keep it charged.Reilly also advised people to check on their neighbors and to call 911 immediately when anything suspicious occurs.
