Kelly Clarkson Calls Coldplay's Chris Martin a 'Serial Killer' After Hearing His Songwriting Voice Memo
Kelly Clarkson may have been a bit spooked by her latest talk show guest. In a clip from the episode posted to Instagram, the two musicians sat and listened while Clarkson's audio team played one of Martin's recordings, which happened to be particularly haunting due to his low voice and the whispering quality in the clip. Clarkson wasn't scared to make a bold claim about the audio clip, telling Martin, "You're a serial killer!" She even took it a step further, comparing the clip to the horror film Silence of the Lambs featuring fictional murderer Hannibal Lecter (played by Anthony Hopkins).

While the "Stronger" singer obviously made the comment in jest, Martin, 47, seemed to be focused on clarifying why the audio sounded so creepy. He first accused Clarkson's sound guy, Caesar, of choosing the "weirdest bit" of the voice memo to play out loud, before explaining that he was only whispering in the clip because it was recorded in the middle of the night. "I don't speak in the nighttime, so I can't sing at night, so I can only whisper like that," he explained. before joking, "It was never supposed to be on The Kelly Clarkson Show." He also lightheartedly told Clarkson that she "humiliated" him after sharing her own voice memo, which was not nearly as eerie-sounding. "But it's amazing," Clarkson added of Martin's recording.
