Pair Of Emus Found Wandering In Worcester County

MENDON, MA — Blackstone Valley Animal Control is trying to locate the owner of two emus found wandering recently in the area. According to animal control, the flightless birds were caught in an area between Mendon and Millville this week. Blackstone Valley Animal Control oversees an area including Mendon, Millville, Uxbridge, Blackstone, Douglas and Hopedale. Emus, native to Australia, are sometimes used as livestock for their meat and a type of leather that can be made from their skin — although it's unclear if the local emus are livestock, pets or possible a zoo attraction. If the emus are yours, call Blackstone Valley Animal Control at (508) 883-2822.The article Pair Of Emus Found Wandering In Worcester County appeared first on Milford, MA Patch.
