L’Jarius Sneed Slams Patrick Mahomes-CJ Stroud Comparisons as Titans CB Openly Challenges Texans QB
“I think the best quarterback in the league is off the table for the next 7-8 years. Like it’s Patrick Mahomes.” That was Chris Broussard’s response when Texans’ Tank Dell mentioned that his teammate, CJ Stroud, could become the best quarterback in the league. That was just a couple of months ago. And now, are we back to square one? The comparisons keep surfacing because Mahomes has set the bar that high. He is the benchmark. Just ask his former Chiefs teammate, L’Jarius Sneed, who echoed the same sentiment.
Appearing on The Pivot podcast, on August 29th, Sneed was having none of it when the host tried to push the agenda of ‘CJ’s like that boy, Pat.’ The Titans’ CB tackled it with a quick-fire reply, “He is not like Pat. I respect his game. He got some game… But I’m not worried about none of that right now.” It seems in the modern day, you are only a good QB when you are ‘like Pat’. It’s also not right for the up-and-coming QBs, like Stroud.
WOW…. L'Jarius Sneed says DO NOT EVER COMPARE CJ STROUD TO PATRICK MAHOMES

Chiefs’ number 15 has been consistently playing ‘great’ plays for six years now. Keyword: consistently. What the analysts, scouts, and players forget is that by comparing they are putting pressure on QBs such as Stroud, who are still finding their footing in the NFL. Let’s get one thing straight. CJ is good. Even Patrick Mahomes couldn’t ignore Stroud’s potential, praising the 22-year-old on Fox Sports’ First Things First as a “phenomenal player” who’s already making waves in the league. So why force the comparison? Stroud’s rookie stats speak for themselves—4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and the league’s lowest interception rate at 1.0%. Impressive for a rookie, right?
Yet, comparing that to Mahomes’ mind-blowing 2018 season—5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions—feels a bit unfair. Why? Because that was alien stuff. L’Jarius Sneed summed it up best when he issued his challenge to Stroud, saying, “You’ll see when we play!” Mark your calendars for November 24, 2024, at NRG Stadium. Maybe then, we’ll see just how close Stroud can get to Mahomes’ level. Until then, let’s give the young Texan some breathing room to carve out his own legacy.
But there’s one way, it seems, the youngster can catch up to Patrick Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes is one 3-peat away from leaving the other QBs in the dust!
Speaking on the Odd Couple’s Podcast, on July 5th, Chris Broussard set the record straight with not only Tank Dell but everyone who thought there was a comparison to be made with Patrick Mahomes. Bold? Yes, but justified. Why? He was not ‘fan-boying’ over Pat, rather, he was just stating facts. And one can’t go amiss with the fact that it all started when Mahomes burst onto the scene with an MVP season. He has not looked back since then—steering the Chiefs to new heights with six consecutive AFC Championship games. Impressive? How about 4 out of 6 wins and only 2 losses, that too coming in overtime? And that’s just scratching the surface. His relentless consistency stems from rewriting the playbook, with his stats doing all the talking.
But where does that leave young guns like Houston’s CJ Stroud? Broussard laid down the challenge: Stroud has to turn Houston into what Mahomes has made Kansas City. However, till he, or anyone else, does not get to that level, we’re all just watching number 15 run away with it. Mahomes has already lifted the Lombardi trophy thrice. This feat has helped him add his name to the elite group of five quarterbacks with three or more Super Bowl wins. And the icing on the cake? The 2024 season is approaching, and he isn’t slowing down. He’s eyeing an unprecedented three-peat, something that only a few dare to dream of in the NFL.
Having won twice in a row, the bookmakers are already touting the Chiefs to glory. And if it happens, the rest of the league’s QBs might be left chasing Patrick Mahomes, as he says, ‘Catch me if you can.’ So, what do you think? If Pat wins the 3-peat, would it cement his legacy as the greatest? Let us know!
