Top 2026 Recruits Anabela Abdullah & Madi Doty commit to Texas
It was a good day for the burnt orange. Anabela Abdullah and Madi Doty, two of Softball America’s Top Five recruits from the 2026 class committed to play at Texas on Sunday.
Abdullah hails from Florida and recently won the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series with the Texas Bombers organization. She is the top-ranked position player in the class and second overall. In a previous conversation with Softball America, Abdullah mentioned she wanted a program that allowed her to be herself defensively and seemingly found that fit on the Forty Acres.
“I first met (hitting) coach (Steve) Singleton when I was 13 years old randomly at a softball event that I was actually too young to attend. We immediately connected. I then that year attended a camp at Texas and it just felt like home,” she said. “Throughout the years my relationship with Coach Singleton continued to grow, and in addition I became very close with the rest of the staff. I’ve met and felt comfortable with their team and their culture. I know that they have the track record and resources to help me become the best version of myself as a softball player and a person. Also, I love that they have a long history of Olympians, which is one of my goals.”
Doty, who plays at Grandview High School in Texas and with the Texas Glory 18u Shelton team. She continues a long line of top-tier pitchers to work with Mike White and his staff. Doty is the second-highest-rated pitcher in the class and fourth overall. Doty helped Texas Glory to a co-championship at the 16u AFCS event, earning Co-MVP of the tournament. Her swing and miss rate combined with her strikeout ratio prove she can be a wipeout force at the next level. Her ability to dissect opposing batters and throw to multiple zones defines the enormous upside to an already elite arm.
12 years ago it started with a bat, tee, and a bucket of baseballs in the front yard with my dad. Baseballs turned into softballs, from that point on this little girl knew softball was the sport for her. First of all I want to thank God because without him none of this would be… pic.twitter.com/a8UR9R7rXm— Madelyn Doty “Madi” (@MadiDoty20) September 15, 2024
