It’s a place dedicated to Steve Irwin’s memory and legacy, and a place that attracts countless visitors every year. Bindi, Robert, and Terri Irwin have all put in the work to ensure that Steve’s vision is kept intact, and that it can be passed on to future generations.
Another way that Steve Irwin’s legacy continues is through the Steve Irwin Gala, which was in Las Vegas this year. This big night honoring the original “wildlife warrior” featured a three-course dinner, entertainment, and more. Unfortunately, however, Bindi had to skip the event due to a health situation.

Bindi Misses Big Event Honoring Dad
Another big draw of this recent Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas was the fact that Bindi, Terri, and Robert were all set to be there. Unfortunately for Bindi, however, she was absent from the event due to a health emergency, and so was Terri, who chose to be with her daughter.
It turns out, Bindi had to have surgery after her appendix ruptured. Speaking to PEOPLE about his sister’s absence, Robert said: “She’s going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them.” Robert continued speaking of his sister, adding: “She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes. Health is so important — it really is.”

Robert Irwin Steps In To Save The Day
Despite Bindi Irwin and Terri Irwin not being there for the Steve Irwin Gala, Robert held it down for his family members, and he later spoke on what a success the night turned out to be.
Robert said on social media: “The Steve Irwin Gala Las Vegas was a HUGE success. Once again, Vegas you brought the energy for an unforgettable evening. Thank you to everyone who joined us, to celebrate the greatest Wildlife Warrior on earth, and raise vital funds for conservation.”
All things considered, Bindi Irwin is doing well following her unexpected surgery, and the gala honoring Steve Irwin and his mission of wildlife conservation seems to have gone well also. Many commenters chimed in on Robert Irwin’s update with plenty of good things to say.
