Indiana Township Quick Bite Turns into $213.8 Million Powerball Feast
Lightning struck in Indiana Township, Allegheny County, not from the sky but through a Powerball ticket that turned one incredibly lucky patron at Quick Pizza and Hoagies into a multimillionaire overnight. According to WTAE, a winning Powerball ticket with a hefty prize of $213.8 million was sold at this unassuming establishment located on Harts Run Road.
The fortunate ticket held the numbers 9, 22, 57, 67, 68, and the critical Powerball, 14. Quick Pizza and Hoagies now finds itself not just a local food joint but also the seller of one of 2024's major lottery wins and as such, they are to receive a $100,000 selling bonus, as reported by WPXI.
The jackpot has two options for distribution, a staggering annuity valued at $213.8 million or a cash option which sums up to $106.4 million before taxes. The winner, whose identity remains as of now a mystery, is afforded one year from the draw date to step forward and claim their windfall.
Remarkably, this is the sixth Powerball jackpot to find a winner in 2024 and the 20th for the state of Pennsylvania since Powerball's introduction in 1992—chronicling a streak of luck for the state, with the last jackpot claimed in Pennsylvania in August 2022, when a Westmoreland County ticket brought in a $206.9 million jackpot victory, according to the same WPXI report.
