Oppressive Heat To Close Nearly 40 Pittsburgh Schools
PITTSBURGH, PA — Nearly 40 Pittsburgh Public Schools will be closed Tuesday in adherence to the district's protocol for city schools with insufficient air conditioning systems.Under the protocol, when the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures to reach or exceed 85 degrees and/or a heat index of 90 degrees or higher, the district will determine if a temporary shift to remote learning or other action is necessary.The weather service is predicting a high of 87 on Tuesday with the heat index approaching 90.
