2026 OH Jayden Robinson commits to Nebraska Volleyball due to family atmosphere despite never visiting
Outside hitter Jayden Robinson verbally committed to Husker Volleyball without ever visiting the state of Nebraska. The Huskers’ emphasis on creating and cultivating a family environment persuaded Robinson to commit to their Class of 2026.
The 6-foot-3 pin hitter is the No. 5 overall 2026 prospect according to PrepDig.com and the No. 42 prospect by PrepVolleyball.com. Robinson is one of the quickest-rising stars in her class. She jumped in PrepVolleyball.com’s rankings 24 spots. The Missouri City, Texas native will likely continue to climb.
Many players commit to colleges quickly after the recruiting contact period opens on June 15. Robinson was hoping to visit a few schools before committing. However, due to her rigorous summer schedule and great feeling about NU, Robinson decided to commit to Nebraska on June 22.

“I picked Nebraska because I want a place that I can really call home and call a family,” she said. “Nebraska, they are very family-oriented.”
When she called the Husker coaches to give them the exciting news, they were not expecting to hear her verbal commitment. But they were very excited to hear that Robinson decided to commit rather than wait.
“The day before I told Coach Cook and everyone else that I was committing, I did a pros and cons list and Nebraska was the one that really stuck out,” the pin hitter said. “By the end of the call that we had, I followed my heart and listened to it and that’s when I verbally committed to Nebraska.”
Robinson joins outside hitter Gabby DiVita from Grosse Pointe, Michigan in the Huskers’ Class of 2026. NU is still searching for a middle blocker addition.
I am SO extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Nebraska! Thank you to Coach Cook & his coaching staff for believing in me to play at the next level! Robinson can play on either pin
Nebraska told Robinson they can see her playing on either pin. The Huskers train all of their outside hitters on the left and right pins. However, some are naturally better on one side.
Robinson is equally confident in both.
“Both sides, for me, feel pretty equal because on the outside, I can hit the cut shot really well,” she said. “But then, on the right side, I can block really well. So on both sides, I can’t really tell each one apart.”
At Ridge Point High School, she averaged 2.4 kills per set and recorded 316 kills in 130 sets. Additionally, the sophomore hit .279 in her first season of extensive experience. She led her team with 94 blocks and added 117 digs.
Nebraska Dream Team Camps make 2026 OH Gabby DiVita’s dream come true
Robinson’s club team, Houston Skyline, is one of the best club programs in the country. On her 16 Royal team, four other players have committed to Power Four colleges so far. Outside hitter Halle Thompson (Texas) and middle blocker Lacy Tinnell (Baylor) are staying in state. Setter Blair Thiebaud is off to Louisville and MB Taylor Johnson won’t be far in Iowa State. Johnson and Robinson play together at Ridge Point as well.
Skyline’s Royal 15 team claimed bronze at the 2023 Girls Junior National Championships.
Robinson and Thompson will compete together on the USA Girls U19 National Team in July. The 2024 NORCECA Girls U19 Continental Championship is from July 12-20 in Honduras. Robinson is the opposite for the U19 team. 2025 Nebraska middle commit Manaia Ogbechie is also on the team.

Family first
Family is obviously important to the 6-foot-3 student-athlete.
Her 8-year-old sister, Jaylen, is in the picture Jayden posted on social media to announce her commitment. The sisters are very close and Jayden wanted to show Husker Nation how important family is to her.
Robinson comes from an athletic family. Her father, Jason Robinson, played basketball overseas in Spain, Brazil and Mexico when his eldest daughter was young. Jayden lived in both Spain and Brazil.
She gets her height from her father, who is 6-foot-6.
Danielle, her mother, played one season of college basketball before focusing on her engineering degree.
Through phone calls, Jayden started to feel connected with the Husker coaches. She related to how much they value family, blood and chosen.
She described her first phone call with the Husker staff as “funny.” Robinson’s call with Nebraska was different than the others. They talked about subjects outside of volleyball and school, including her nickname and how her dog trains dogs. Her ability to talk comfortably about many topics made her feel at home.
Despite never seeing the Bob Devaney Sports Center or feeling its electricity in person, Robinson saw a future as a Husker and she made it happen.
