Lexington County coroner identifies individual dead after collision

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who was killed after a collision in the Gaston area, says the coroner’s office.
The collision happened in the 700 block of Woodtrail Drive in the Gaston area of Lexington County at about 2:31 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.
Coroner Margaret Fisher says Diego Federico Suarez-Pelaez, 59, of Gaston was riding his bicycle on Woodtrail Drive when he was hit by a vehicle.
Suarez-Pelaez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on May 17, 2024, due to the injuries he sustained in the collision.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the incident.
