Nadine Coyle proved herself an icon on stage during the Girls Aloud reunion tour after stepping in for Cheryl last minute.
The girl group kicked off their long-awaited tour last week, dedicated to their late band member Sarah Harding who died of breast cancer in 2021. The show has already brought fans to tears after including an emotional tribute to Sarah to the song I’ll Stand By You.
Now fans are praising the group’s immaculate chemistry, despite not performing together in over a decade.
During their show in Dublin there was a last minute change of plan after it appeared Cheryl was not feeling well.
While the girls performed their 2008 hit The Promise, footage captured showed Cheryl, 40, ask Nadine, 38, to take over her solo. After a brief moment of confusion as she frantically asked Cheryl what the words are, she valiantly rose to the occasion.
‘If you want to forgive me, if you want to try again and be with me in my arms,’ Nadine sang the lyrics as Cheryl smiled by her side.

X user @DaniSpiceBoy uploaded a clip of the lovely moment to social media with the caption: ‘My video of Cheryl asking Nadine to sing her part in Dublin because she was poorly, while she was ad-libbing for her life – I love them so much’
And fans shared their love for Nadine in the comments, noting her panic.
‘The look of panic when she asks “what is it”,’ @SlyviaHollamby wrote.
‘It’s the flinch back just as she’s about to sing. Sheer panic!,’ @scottypants1982 added.
‘That’s a band who genuinely care about each other,’ @conorfurlong added.
The shared moment between the two singers is made all the better considering their rumoured feuds in the past.

When the band originally split up in 2012, Nadine took to X and told fans: ‘You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn’t stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going.’
Cheryl later hit back in Attitude magazine, saying: ‘[Nadine] was the one who wanted to make a solo record. Which is why we took the hiatus.
‘She wants to come out and say we broke the band up? No! She shouldn’t tell porkie pies.’
But after Sarah’s death aged 39, in 2021, the band put the feud behind them and look stronger than ever.
Ahead of their first show, they took to X and wrote: ‘…We’ve been working so hard to make this show special for all of you.’
In November, the group had to add six extra dates to their UK and Ireland 2024 arena tour due to ‘unprecedented demand’ following ticket pre-sales.
They are now in Manchester until Saturday before heading to Cardiff and Newcastle.
