I thought I only won $4 playing Lucky for Life lottery – but after checking my email I realized it was actually $390,000
A MICHIGAN man can count himself the luckiest after a surprising win.
What he originally believed was a $4 Lucky For Life prize turned out to be a $25,000 a Year for Life lottery win.
Daryl Tilley got the shock of a lifetime when he got a bigger prize than anticipatedLucky for Life lottery
Daryl Tilley, 57, won the grand prize when his Lucky For Life ticket matched the five white balls drawn on March 25. The winning numbers were: 1, 4, 31, 39 and 47.
He purchased his winning ticket online at the Michigan Lottery website.
“Every now and then I will get online and purchase a Lucky for Life ticket,” recounted Tilley.
“The day after the drawing, I saw an email about a prize, and I assumed it was a $4 win.
“When I logged into my account, I saw an amount much bigger than that!” he said to MI Lottery Connect. “I showed my wife, and it took me a while to convince her that it was real. We were both stunned!”
Tilley recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize, per the outlet.
He opted for a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000 instead of annuity payments of $25,000 a year for 20 years or life, whichever is longer.
He plans to use his winnings to go on vacation and save the rest.
WINNING LUCKY FOR LIFE IN MICHIGAN
For just $2 per play, Lucky For Life offers Lottery players a chance to win prizes ranging from $3 to a lifetime of cash.
To win the top prize of $1,000 a day for life, players must match all five winning numbers from 1 to 48, plus one Lucky Ball from one to 18.
Matching all five winning numbers without the Lucky Ball wins $25,000 a year for life.
Drawings occur at 10:38 pm every day.
Meanwhile, tickets can be purchased at lottery retailers statewide and online at MichiganLottery.com.
